Philosophy
Spirit is based on the philosophy that each child, in their own uniqueness, should be presented with opportunities that promote cognitive, social and physical development. Each child’s individuality is embraced and treated with respect.
Our programs are based on the premise that when children in a classroom setting are presented with innovative learning experiences, they are empowered by them, ultimately building young children who are self-confident and who desire to explore a world of possibilities.
Environment
At Spirit, we strive to provide a clean, safe and educational environment for young children and their families. We believe in being supportive of our parents, and welcome their positive involvement and presence to create a team of teaching between home and school. We further believe that within our environment, children can thrive and have the opportunity to blossom into responsible and contributing members of society.
Curriculum
Our curriculum is designed by a PH D in Education and a highly skilled and trained staff. At our centers, attention is focused on the development of the “whole child”. Our curriculum is designed to provide developmentally appropriate activities and routines that facilitate all areas of their growth. The curriculum includes child and teacher directed activities with the ultimate goal of developing children who are academically, socially, intellectually and physically prepared for the next educational phase of their lives.
Thematic lesson plans are developed by teaching teams which focus on individual and group needs. The program also offers opportunities for fostering independence, creativity and self-esteem. These areas are developed by improving self-help skills and strengthening decision-making skills to encourage and promote productive problem solvers.
Staff
Each child is viewed as an individual with a unique physical and mental growth pattern. Each staff member is encouraged to familiarize themselves with each child in their group, therefore knowing their patterns of growth and adjustment. This familiarity enables the staff to take children from one skill level to the next in a way that is both challenging and successful.
Each member of the Spirit’s staff is trained and qualified in Early Childhood Education with the necessary academic background, as well as at least one year experience prior to employment. Staff is also required to continue their education by attending college courses, seminars, workshops, and/or other forms of training in the field of education. All staff members are also CPR and First Aid certified. The staff members at Spirit are energetic, supportive, and above all loving and caring teachers and staff. We encourage you to tour our facilities to meet our wonderful staff.
Nutrition
We are sponsored by the California Department of Education for our Nutrition Program. Jointly funded by state and federal subsidies, the program is designed to assure compliance with the federal nutritional guidelines for all preschoolers enrolled. We supply breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack.
